We are pleased to announce that three NRA firearms training courses will be offered at CCF&G this year on a first-come, first-served basis.  Maximum class size is about 10 individuals aged at least 16.

NRA Basic Pistol

What will you learn in an NRA basic course?
Using the NRA training method of Total Participant Involvement, basic courses provide hands on learning opportunities in the following areas:

      This course will focus on handguns.

  • safe firearm handling
  • firearm parts and operation
  • ammunition and its function
  • shooting fundamentals and an opportunity to develop them on the range
  • how to select, clean and store a firearm
  • review of various activities available to help participants develop and improve their shooting skills

A written test and a three-hour range session on the Saturday or Sunday following. Certificates are awarded to participants who successfully complete each basic course.

This course is acceptable for Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Maine concealed carry permits, which require the completion of a pistol safety course. Total course time is 10 hours and provides hands-on learning opportunities in the areas of safe firearm handling; firearm parts and operation; ammunition and its function; shooting fundamentals and an opportunity to develop them on the range; how to select, clean and store a firearm; and review of various activities available to help participants develop and improve shooting skills.

Fee is $65 for club members, including materials and expenses.

Personal Protection in the Home

Description
The course provides basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential to the safe, efficient, ethical, and legal use of a handgun for protection of self and family inside the home. You will learn how to select a handgun and ammunition suited to you.  Prerequisite for this course is the NRA Basic Pistol course or pre-approved prior training.  Total course time is 12 hours.

Pre-requisite for this course is "Basic Pistol" or pre-approved prior training.
The cost for Personal Protection in the Home is $75.00. (including materials and expenses)

Personal Protection Outside the Home

Description
This course is an intermediate-level shooting course providing knowledge, skills, and attitudes involve gun safety, responsibly, effectively, ethically, and legally employing a concealed handgun for self defense.  You will be exposed to many new shooting techniques, storage options, and carry modes.

Fees include all training materials. All classes are limited to 12 students. For your safety, eye and ear protection are required while on the range. These items are available at a reasonable cost at the range.

Prerequisites for this course are "Basic Pistol" and "Personal Protection in the Home" courses.

The cost for Personal Protection Outside the Home is $100.

Description
