Junior Small
Bore Rifle CCF&G Junior Rifle program runs from
September through May each year. In addition, many individuals compete
on their own through camps or events during the summer. Our program
consists of weekly practices and 15-20 matches during the season.
Some of the more notable matches we compete in are:
- Civilian Marksmanship Club
- USA Shooting
- NRA 3 Position Sectional
- NRA 4 Position Sectional
- NRA Air Rifle Sectional
- Connecticut State Gallery Match
- NH/CCF&G Whistler Boy Tryouts
- NH Indoor 4 Position Championships
Some of the teams we compete
regularly against are:
- Sharon, MA Fish & Game
- Nashua Fish & Game Jr Rifle Team
- Northfield, VT High School
- Spaulding (Barre,VT) High School
- Ames, MA Fish & Game
We utilize the indoor range
at the Winchester Sportsmen Range on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-8:30
pm.
We are always in need of new
athletes along with parents to keep the program going. Our team
has been most competitive over the past few years due to its depth
of participants. Any juniors (age 12-20) interested in checking
this out need only to contact Larry Parker Sr.
or any club director for information.
Adult Smallbore
Rifle Team & League CCF&G's senior rifle team
competes annually in the Cheshire/Windham Rifle Indoor Smallbore
Rifle League. This league runs from December through March. There
are other teams that compete in this league. They are the Peterboro
Sportsmen and Brattleboro Sportsmen.
Our team is open to any interested
club member. Anyone interested should contact Larry Parker.
High Power
Rifle CCF&G runs an excellent high power shooting
program with several scheduled shoots as well as a league. The NH
Highpower Rifle League is a great way for shooters to get into
competition. Shooting fees are small. Rifles are available for the
use of club members. All new shooters are required to attend a DCM
Clinic or have previous high power rifle experience. All NRA High
Power Rifle and safety rules apply to the league. If you would like
to join the team or have any questions about the high power program,
contact one of the following individuals: Larry Racine or Pete DeSantis.

See more information and the
current schedule here: CCFandG High Power
Rifle.
Trap
The Club maintains and operates two trap fields for its
member enjoyment. Trap shooting is scheduled weekly throughout the
year on Wednesday from 2:00 until dark on Saturdays from 10:00 am
to 2:00 pm. From the onset of daylight savings time, the trap fields
are open on Tuesdays beginning at 3:00 pm. Tuesday shooting is reserved
for beginner shooters and those wishing to shoot doubles. In addition
to the above regular weekly practice shoot times, CCF&G also
sponsors numerous special shoots for the novice shooters as well
as registered ATA shooter. All shoots are open to the public.
Recreational
Pistol The purpose of recreational pistol is to
promote the recreational use of center fire handguns that would
otherwise gather dust and rust. To promote friendly competition
without the high-pressure lust for prizes. To provide experience
to those who would like to compete in IPSC, IDPA, ISA, NRA Action
Pistol or Cowboy Action Shooting.
Cowboy
Action Shooting S.A.S.S. What
is Cowboy long-range precision rifle shooting?
This is a competition where
the emphasis is placed on precision shooting at long ranges, with
time being a secondary scoring factor. Scoring of these matches
is determined by the number of hits, with either of two methods
used to break ties. At the match director's option, either total
time used to shoot the required number of shots or a shoot-off may
be used to break ties.
There are four categories in Cowboy long range
or precision rifle competition, plus one optional category:
- Lever action, revolver category.
- Lever action, rifle caliber.
- Single Shot.
- Buffalo Single Shot.
Open Category (may be used at the match director's
option, to include those firearms not covered by the four official
long-range categories.)
Black-powder categories can be added to any
or all of the basic categories at the option of the match director.
Each category will compete within itself.
See the current schedule and
information here: Cowboy.
Archery
CCF&G has a separate area designed solely for archery use.
It includes a 14-target field archery range, two (2) 30-target 3-D
ranges and a pavilion. Archery conducts a twelve- week summer league
on 3-D field ranges on Tuesday nights. During the winter, archery
sponsors a Tuesday night indoor league at the Keene Parks &
Recreation Department from7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and offers open shooting
on Sundays from 12:00 - 4:00pm. In addition to the indoor winter
league, we conduct archery lessons on Tuesday nights from 6:00 pin
to 7:00 pm for the youth in grades 5 and up.
After 6 January, 2005 Archery
invites you to stop by the Keene Recreation Center on Washington
Street on Tuesday night to see what's happening. Tuesday nights
at the archery range is a great way to spend time, bring the wife,
the girlfriend, the husband. Make it a family night. If you haven't
used that bow for a while, dig it out of the closet and come join
us. It's just like riding a bike, just get right back on; it will
all come back to you. See you there. The time: 7:00pm. There is
also open shooting on Sundays. Check out the calendar.

Not interested
in structured shooting events Many
of our members are not interested in a structured shooting program.
They simply want a safe environment in which to come and "plink"
or to sight in their rifles. As a member of CCF&G you will receive
a key and membership badge that allows you to enter the facility
at your convenience. Our operating permit forbids shooting before
8:00 am in the morning and after dusk in the evening.
